Jeff has lived in many different parts of the United States, but he considers himself an adopted Texan. He served a mission in France. He earned a B.S. in Family Science from BYU and an M.Ed. in School Counseling from Lamar University. In Texas, he worked in public education for 15 years, most recently as a high school counselor in Austin before coming to BYU.
He loves taking hikes in a variety of locations, which makes Utah a great place to live. His children either already attend BYU or plan to someday. He loves spending time with his family, playing games, or watching shows. He's an avid fan of the Lord of the Rings/The Hobbit movies. He loves Texas BBQ and Tex-Mex food. If you want to have a long conversation about what to do in Central Texas, he's the one to talk to!
His goal is to support and promote student success. He believes that every student comes to college with a unique set of skills, talents, and desires. He hopes to help students identify and use their strengths to achieve their short- and long- term goals, both academic and otherwise. He recognizes that students come to college with diverse identities and beliefs that may impact their experience as a student and as a member of our BYU community. In his interactions, he acknowledges and respects your identity and beliefs and will endeavor to tailor his advising to meet your needs.
