Campus Tours FAQs

  • Prospective students are defined as the following:

    • Middle school/junior high students
    • High school students grade 9-12 (or equivalent)
    • High school graduates with no college work
    • Transfer students
    • Admitted students
    • International students
    • Graduate students

A prospective student is allowed to bring up to 6 non-prospective student guests on a tour. If you have other prospective students, please register them separately. Additional guests can participate in a self-guided walking tour. For further accommodations, call us at 801-422-1280.

  • This event type is not intended for family and friend groups. For such parties, sign up each prospective student for a walking tour.

We offer group tours to the following groups:

    • Elementary school classes
    • Middle school/junior high classes
    • High school classes
    • Church/youth groups
    • Other groups

NOTE: Group tours require chaperones. For students in grades K-8, you need to bring 1 chaperone for every 10 students. For students in grades 9-12, you need 1 chaperone for every 15 students.

    • Tours are 75 minutes long. Golf cart and walking tours will cover the same information in the following categories:

      • Admissions application
      • Academics
      • Student life
      • Student resources
      • BYU's dual heritage
      • Housing overview
    • How to Get to BYU From the SLC Airport (Using Public Transportation)

    • One-hour parking is available at the Hinckley Center visitor's parking lot. Before your tour, you will need to ask the Hinckley Center receptionist for a pass to hang on your rearview mirror.

If the Hinckley Center visitor's parking is full, or you plan to stay longer than one hour on campus, additional parking is located at the Museum of Art visitor's parking lot.

Remember to give yourself enough time to find a parking spot.

    • We try to accommodate all golf cart requests, but it's not guaranteed. We reserve the right to alter tour types if necessary. Be prepared to join a walking tour if golf carts aren't available. For those unable to participate in a walking tour, submit an accessibility request during registration or call us at 801-422-1280.

    • The golf cart tour and walking tour have the same content, just a different mode of transportation. Your tour guide will take you through campus, delivering the same information whether walking or riding in a golf cart.

NOTE: Golf carts are not guaranteed, even when booking a golf cart tour.

    • If you have general questions or questions regarding disability, foreign language tours, or Saturday tours, call 801-422-1280.
