Scholarships & Financial Aid
BYU Scholarships
To be considered for a scholarship, you need to do two things in addition to applying for admission to BYU – be sure to follow the links below for more information:
Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
A submitted FAFSA is required to be considered for all federal aid and many BYU awards (including Cougar Pell Promise – see below!).
Prospective students must complete the BYU scholarship application by the scholarship application deadline to be considered. Learn more and fill out the application at scholarships.byu.edu.
Cougar Pell Promise
Students who qualify for the Cougar Pell Promise will have their tuition costs met each year. BYU will assist in meeting full Latter-day Saint tuition costs for newly admitted freshmen who:
Apply for admission directly out of high school.
Submit the FAFSA by the appropriate scholarship deadline, and be eligible for more than the “Minimum Pell Grant.”
Remain in good academic standing (maintain a cumulative 2.00 BYU GPA).
You can earn money for school and other expenses by working at BYU. Over 50% of BYU students work on campus as tour guides, Chick-fil-A workers, graphic designers, researchers, teacher assistants, sports recruiters, and more!
We all love free money, but sadly, a loan is not free. It is acceptable to take out a modest loan to receive an education if needed. Consider these things before you borrow. “Some debt – such as for a modest home, expenses for education, perhaps for a needed first car – may be necessary. But never should we enter into financial bondage through consumer debt without carefully weighing the costs.” - Elder Joseph B. Wirthlin
