Edit/Cancel Your Mission Deferment

If you need to start classes a different semester or returning earlier than anticipated, you will need to update your Mission Deferment Form.

If you need to start classes a different semester or if you are returning earlier than anticipated, it is important to update your deferment.

If you will not be serving a mission at this time and did not begin the MTC, you can cancel your deferment.

  • Check the box on your Mission Deferment to indicate that you did not enter the MTC.
  • If you did serve, even for a short time, simply update your release date on your Mission Deferment and then, from the options provided, indicate the semester/term you intend to enroll at BYU.
  • You will also need to commit to the Honor Code and update your Ecclesiastical Endorsement. When updating your Ecclesiastical Endorsement, you must select the endorsement option that indicates you are a BYU student on mission deferment. You can begin that process here.
  • You will be expected to enroll at BYU if you are not currently serving a mission. Failure to return to school promptly may result in having to reapply for admission to BYU. For more information, contact Enrollment Services.
