Repeated Coursework
BYU's Course Repeat Policy applies if you withdraw from the class after the semester Add/Drop Deadline, earn a grade in the class (A, B, C, D, E), or do not earn a grade (NS, I). The repeat policy does not apply to courses listed with an R-suffix, including pass/fail courses. Pass/fail courses without an R-suffix are subject to the repeat policy.
Check MyAid Dashboard to see if repeats are affecting your federal aid eligibility. Having more ‘Enrolled’ credits than ‘Pell Credit’ indicates we may not be counting credits toward your federal aid because of credit repeats.
Pell Grants and direct loans cannot cover courses repeated more than twice.
If you repeat a course for at least a third time, a separate “Repeat Tuition” charge will appear on My Financial Center, so federal aid won’t pay that tuition charge. In either case, students are not charged a higher tuition rate for repeating a class.
