Verification

Verification is the audit process the government uses to make sure what you reported on the FAFSA is accurate.

If the government, or BYU, selects your file for verification, it is required that you complete the process in order for you to be eligible for federal aid (Pell Grants, Subsidized and Unsubsidized Loans).

How Will I Know if I'm Selected?

To help you through the verification process, a task will post to your My Aid Dashboard and My Financial Center, which include specific instructions on what you need to do. In addition, watch for an email requesting clarifying information.

You may submit copies of the documents using one of the following options:

  • Upload them directly into Financial Aid Student Forms
  • In person to the Enrollment Services windows (D155 ASB), or
  • Mail signed copies to Enrollment Services at A41 ASB, Provo, UT 84602.

For additional questions, contact Enrollment Services. We're happy to help with your verification questions!

Dependent Verification

If you are a dependent student and are selected for verification, both you and a parent must complete and sign the electronic verification form. After submitting the required documents and signing the verification form you will be directed to send a request to your parent to sign it as well, with instructions on how to complete the process.
