Verification

Verification is the audit process the government uses to make sure what you reported on the FAFSA is accurate.

If the government, or BYU,  selects your file for verification, it is required that you complete the process in order for you to be eligible for federal aid (Pell Grants/Subsidized/Unsubsidized Loans).

How Will I Know if I'm Selected?

To help you through the verification process, tasks will post to your MyAid Dashboard and My Financial Center, which include specific instructions on what you need to do.  In addition, watch for YMessages requesting clarifying information.

You may submit copies of the documents using one of the following options:

  • Attach document to a message in YMessage. Make sure you scan both sides of each page. You can attach up to three documents per message (max size per document is 5MB),
  • In person to the Enrollment Services windows (D-155 ASB), or
  • Mail to Enrollment Services at A-41 ASB, Provo, UT 84602.

If you have additional questions you may contact Enrollment Services by calling (801) 422-4104 or send a message through YMessage with ‘Verification’ as the topic.

Dependent Verification Form

If you are dependent student and are selected for verification, both you and your parents must complete and sign the electronic verification form. An email is sent to the parent(s) listed on the FAFSA with instructions on how to complete this process.
