Transfer Course Planning

Tools for transferring previous college credit, concurrent enrollment, AP, IB, etc. to BYU.

We've done the hard work for you! If we've evaluated credits from your school in the past five years, you can view the BYU Equivalency Search to check if the course fulfills a BYU general education requirement.

Equivalency Search

Courses can potentially transfer in three ways:

  1. General Education Requirement – Equivalent to a BYU course, counting towards a general education requirement.
  2. Major Requirement – Equivalent to a BYU course, counting towards a major requirement according to the major advisement center.
  3. Elective Credit – Counts toward the 120 hours needed for graduation. This happens when our office is unable to make an equivalency at the GE or program levels. If you see a course listed as “Elective Credit” in the search tool, contact your major advisement center to see if it may be used within your degree program.
