Submitting Transcripts to BYU
All materials must be received or reported by the appropriate application deadline. If you need to make any changes to your application after submitting it, you will need to completely withdraw your application and then resubmit. This will update the timestamp of your application submission. Incomplete or inaccurate academic histories may result in revocation of your acceptance, loss of credit or dismissal from BYU.
NOTE: If you or your high school or college chose pass/fail for any semester(s)/term(s) impacted by COVID-19, this will not have a negative impact on your BYU admission application. Please note pass grades are not counted towards the required 24 completed college credits. As a result, you may need to include your high school transcript as part of your application.
High School Transcripts
If you are applying with less than 24 college credits or a recent high school graduate, you will be required to report all graded, US-accredited high school coursework completed from 9th through 12th grade.
You will need to access your high school transcript to accurately self-report your courses and grades in the application. Enter your courses and grades exactly as they appear on your high school transcript, following the grading scale used by your high school. Official transcripts that do not match the self-reported grades may result in revocation of your acceptance to BYU.
Official high school transcripts are only required AFTER you are admitted. You will not be able to register for classes until your official transcripts have been received and verified, which takes about one week.
Concurrent Enrollment & College Transcripts
BYU requires official transcripts from each college you have attended, including concurrent enrollment courses taken during high school and CES Institute of Religion courses.
You must report all college work in the college section of the application, whether it was completed on a college campus or not. Even if the credits also appear on your high school transcript, it must still be included in the college section of the application. Incomplete or inaccurate academic histories may result in the revocation of your acceptance, loss of credit, or dismissal from BYU.
Official college transcripts ARE required and you cannot submit your admission application until after BYU receives your official college transcript, if applicable.
Most transcripts are sent electronically through Parchment Exchange, National Transcript Center, or National Student Clearinghouse. Some schools may send the transcript directly to the recipient. BYU does not accept faxed transcripts.
- If your school uses Parchment Exchange or National Student Clearinghouse, select BYU as the recipient.
- If your high school directly sends transcripts, they can send the transcript to highschooltranscript@byu.edu.
- If your college directly sends transcripts, they can send the transcript to collegetranscript@byu.edu.
Official transcripts must be mailed directly from the high school or college.

Transcript FAQs
-
Toggle ItemDoes BYU use a weighted or unweighted GPA?
BYU uses a standardized grading system to ensure consistent evaluation of all transcripts. Due to variations in grading scales and calculations, we only use an unweighted GPA. Report grades as they appear on your transcript but know that the BYU GPA calculation may not match exactly.
-
Toggle ItemShould I report my senior year (12th grade) grades?
Senior year grades should be reported if you have received a final grade for the class, or in other words, if the grade is showing on your official transcript. If you are currently taking classes, you should report those as “in-progress” on the application.
-
Toggle ItemI'm in an accredited homeschool program. Will I report this work on my application?
Yes. Applicants self-reporting their grades must report all US-accredited work completed inside or outside of the United States, including accredited homeschool programs.
-
Toggle ItemI have completed non-US-accredited work. Will I report that on the transcript page of the application?
No. Non-US-accredited work, including traditional homeschool or non-US-accredited international work, should not be reported in the Transcript section of the application. You will fill out the "yes/no" questions only.
-
Toggle ItemI have completed international secondary education work. Will I report that on my application?
If your international schoolwork was US-Accredited, you would self-report that on the transcript section of the application.
If your international schoolwork was non-US-accredited, you would not self-report that work on the transcript section of the application. Instead, an evaluation of your non-US-accredited schoolwork may be required. Please see Evaluating International Work for more information.
