Register for Classes

Learn more about how and when to register for classes.

When to Register (Priority Registration)

See priority registration dates in the table below. It is your responsibility to be aware of all other registration dates and deadlines.

Spring and Summer Priority Registration

Everyone has the same priority registration date for spring and summer, which is March 1.

Fall and Winter Priority Registration

Your assigned priority registration date is determined by the number of credit hours earned through the most recently completed semester/term.

  • Transfer students: includes transfer credit accepted by BYU.
  • New freshmen in your first semester: You're assigned the last date of priority registration. This includes returned missionaries who did not attend before their mission.

If you have AP credit or other transfer work but have not yet attended BYU, you will still be assigned the last registration date. For your second semester, all completed/accepted credit hours will be considered when your date is assigned. The dates are assigned and posted to MyMAP a few weeks before registration begins, and an email notice is sent.

Priority Registration Dates

*Priority registration begins at 12 am of your date. All future dates are subject to change.
